Some love stories are written long before we ever realize they’re unfolding. Ours was authored by God and delivered through the physician lounge at Carolinas Medical Center.We were both in seasons of healing, learning to trust that God had a plan even when we couldn’t yet see it. We worked at the same hospital. I was a CRNA, and Matt was a surgery resident. Somehow, our paths kept crossing. Caffeine runs that overlapped. Doors opening at just the right moment. Playful conversations from opposite sides of the surgical drapes. Looking back, what felt like serendipity was God’s perfect timing all along.Eventually, I decided to give God’s timing a little nudge, so I made the first move (Matt still insists he was waiting for the right timing)Those ordinary moments became the beginning of something extraordinary. What started with shared smiles and chance encounters grew into a love that has been patient, steady, and deeply redemptive. Every step of our journey, even the difficult ones, prepared our hearts for each other.We’re so grateful that God brought our stories together in His perfect timing. Our relationship is a reminder that He is always at work, often in ways we don’t recognize until we look back. We can’t wait to begin this next chapter together and celebrate with the people we love most in our favorite place in the world: Italy!

Another option is Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO), which offers more international flight options. If you fly into Rome, you'll need to continue to Tuscany by high-speed train or private transfer.
